The Holly Springs City Council voted to approve the ordinance at Monday night's meeting.
In a 5-0 vote, the Holly Springs City Council approved Sunday alcohol sales to start on Jan. 1, the first Sunday after Monday night's meeting that does not fall on Christmas. They also approved the consolidation of the new city manager contract. The council denied a contract renewal with the Employee Assistance Program for $1,200 with One Source Counseling.
Tonight's meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Holly Springs City Hall.
If approved, Holly Springs residents could start buying alcohol on Jan. 1, the first Sunday after tonight's meeting that doesn't fall on Christmas day. At the last work session, the council said there was a longstanding ordinance barring sales on Christmas day. Other agenda items include the appointment of board members for the planning and zoning committee and the purchase of 2737 Hickory Road for $1,000. They will also discuss the 12-month contract for a new city manager. The work session begins at 6:30 with the regular meeting at 7 p.m. See the attached agenda for more information.
