Ladner Allegations Send Shockwaves Through Community
The allegations against Shane Ladner have stirred up outrage and even caused the closure of a Facebook page.
Allegations surfaced Monday that Holly Springs police officer Shane Ladner lied about earning a Purple Heart in Iraq to attend the "Hunt for Heroes" benefit event last November, where he and his wife were injured by a train that crashed into the parade float they were riding on. Due to an unrelated matter, Ladner's employment with the Holly Springs Police Department was terminated on April 5. Fallout from the accusations against Ladner, whose wife Meg lost her left leg in the train collision, is only just beginning. The popular "Prayers for Shane and Meg Ladner" Facebook page, which promoted fundraisers, pancake breakfasts, and status updates on the Ladner family, has been taken down at the request of Meg Ladner in light of the allegations…

Update at 8:59 a.m.: Holly Springs Police Chief Ken Ball released a statement Tuesday morning on Ladner allegedly falsifying his military record: Following Shane Ladner’s tragic accident on November 15, 2012, in Midland Texas, he was unable to return to work. The city of Holly Springs opted to fill the vacancy in the Police Department in early April 2013. As a result, Mr. Ladner’s employment with the city was separated effective April 5, 2013. We are aware of the allegations of false documents against Shane Ladner related to his military service. We are investigating what jurisdiction may have authority over these said allegations. We have been in contact with the local, state and federal agencies that would have authority to bring forward…

Ladners Continue To Recover From Accident
Friends and family rally around the couple who were hurt in a Texas train accident earlier this month.
It could take up to a year before Holly Springs police officer Shane Ladner and wife Meg Ladner's lives return to normal. That's according to long-time friend Julie Cassidy, who has been by the couple's side since they were seriously injured in a train accident earlier this month in Texas. Meg Ladner, Cassidy said, underwent surgery on Monday to make repairs to her pelvis, hip, and her leg. "The good news is there is no brain damage and all her vital organs are working," she added. "She’s a fighter." Cassidy said Meg Ladner's recovery will take at least a year. She noted she will stay at Atlanta Medical Center for another three months and will undergo rehabilitative therapy at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta for an additional nine months. …

Friends Of Ladners Plan Fundraisers
A fundraiser to help Holly Springs couple Shane and Meg Ladner recover from injuries will be held next month.
Friends are planning an event to raise money for a Holly Springs couple Shane and Meg Ladner who were hurt in a train accident earlier this month. Two sets of pancake breakfasts will be held at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 1 and Dec. 8 at Longhorn Steakhouse at 2700 Town Center Drive in Kennesaw, according to 11 Alive. The event falls on a Saturday and will also feature a silent auction to be held in conjunction of the breakfast. Organizers are requesting participants to donate $20 to help the Ladners. A Facebook page, Prayers For Shane and Meg Ladner, has also been set up so friends and family can keep track of the Ladner's recovery. As of Friday morning, the page had more than 1,200 fans. The Ladners on Monday flew back to Atlanta from Midland, Texas…

Beretverde- I can only assume that you know for a fact that this officer is in fact lying and had never been awarded the Purple Heart. I hope you are know your facts. It would be unfortunate if he did in fact lie about it, though it would not be surprising considering so many people have made such claims as even being in the service when they never served.
