Cherokee Fire Receives New Pet Masks

The masks were obtained through a nationwide initiative called Project Breathe.

A program has helped Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services acquire 30 new pet oxygen masks. The agency recently received the new masks, which will be placed on 21 fire engines and nine squads throughout the county. The department received the masks in September through an initiative put on by Invisible Fence® Brand called Project Breathe. Project Breathe is a donation program that provides oxygen mask kits to first responders to use on animals. Each kit contains a small, medium and large mask.  Cherokee fire received about $921 in donations towards the program, said Cherokee County Firefighter Erik Mork. Donate to Save a Pet

This month, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services will be participating in the “Project Breathe” program.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services hopes to raise enough money this month to outfit each of its "first-out" trucks with oxygen mask kits. During the month of September, the department is participating in the "Project Breathe" donation program to provide pet oxygen mask kits to first responders. For every kit purchased through donations, Invisible Fence by Peachtree, which started the program, will donate one kit. "Our overall goal is to raise enough money for roughly 15 kits," Cherokee County firefighter Erik Mork said. "I'd like each "first-out" fire truck in the county to carry one kit.
