Funeral Set for Woodstock Man Killed In Marina Accident

Josh Roberts, 21, will be laid to rest on Wednesday.

Funeral services have been scheduled for the Woodstock man who was killed in an on-the-job accident last week near Canton. Services for Josh Anton Roberts, 21, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Woodstock. The family will receive friends between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. tonight at Sosebee Funeral Home in Canton.  Roberts died in a work place accident at Little River Marina on Jan. 23. Along with being employed at the marina, he was also a student at Kennesaw State University. He graduated from Woodstock High School in 2009. He loved running, working out, drawing and music, according to his obituary posted on Sosebee's website.  Survivors include his mother Sharon Rodriguez; father Mervyn Roberts; …

UPDATE: Worker Killed at Little River Marina Identified

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office does not suspect foul play in the death.

UPDATE (5:45 p.m.): According to a press release from Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services, Roberts (who is not named in the press release) was working on the 1973 model forklift when part of the mast or upright broke loose and crushed him. Cherokee Fire and Emergency Services personnel worked with Mauldin's Body Shop to safely stabilize the forklift so Roberts' body could be removed, said the press release.. According to the release, Cherokee County Fire Chief, Tim Prather, said that safety is a priority in a situation like this so that no additional injuries occurred.  UPDATE (3:30 p.m.): According to a Cherokee Sheriff's Office press release, the deceased worker has been identified as Josh Roberts, 21, of Woodstock. I knew Josh for a couple of years. He was a very good friend of my ex-fiance, Bradley, who worked with him at the Marina. This is so tragic and heartbreaking. His birthdays was last Saturday. He was 21 years old and such a sweetheart. My heart aches for his family and friends who will miss him so much. I will pray for them and also his co-workers/buddies at the Marian.
