WellStar Proposes Hospital, Hospice, Health Park for Holly Springs

The Marietta-based health care company shared with residents on Monday what their plans are for the Holly Springs area.

If all goes to plan, WellStar Health System would build a 100-bed hospital, a hospice facility and a health park with outpatient services. That is what the Marietta-based company told about 60 residents who packed into Liberty Elementary School to hear what the company would like to build on about 62 acres of land on the southwest corner of Sixes Road and Interstate 575. Not sure this county needs another hospital. Kennestone/Wellstar is just down the street, Northside is in Canton and is scheduled to build a new facility and Piedmont is just north on 515. Now, if the plan is for 5yrs to open, probably a good idea.   more ›

Residents To Put WellStar's Plans in Holly Springs Under Microscope

Homeowners' associations along the Sixes Road corridor will hold a meeting for residents to learn more about WellStar's plans to possibly build a facility in Holly Springs.

While WellStar Health System has decided not to proceed with obtaining a green light from the state for a free-standing emergency department in Holly Springs, that isn't stopping residents from organizing to inform their neighbors about the company's plans. A meeting has been set for 6:30 p.m. Monday at Liberty Elementary School for residents who live in BridgeMill and along Sixes Road to learn about what WellStar would like to do with roughly 62 acres on the southwest corner of Sixes Road and I-575. Jay Patouillet, president of the BridgeMill Community Association, said the homeowners association of BridgeMill and The Falls of Cherokee decided to organize a meeting to inform residents about WellStar's plans due to the proximity of the …
