The Holly Springs City Council has approved new stipulations on garage sales. The regulations: The council also approved new regulations on charitable solicitations, which requires any person or organization wishing to solicit donations to obtain a permit from the city. Council members also denied a proposal to amend its ordinance to regulate false alarms and approved appointing Kyle Whitaker to the Downtown Development Authority

The Holly Springs City Council will consider approving new regulations on garage sales during its meeting tonight. The meeting will start at 7 p.m., preceding its 6:30 p.m. work session, at Holly Springs Municipal Court. The Holly Springs City Council has proposed amending the city's ordinance that would regulate garage sales.
The Holly Springs City Council took another step in regulating garage sales throughout the city. The council on Monday during its work session reviewed amendments to the city's code that would impose stringent restrictions on these sales. The proposal, which is set to be approved during the council's rescheduled Jan. 24 meeting, would: City Manager Rob Logan said the ordinance is designed to limit ongoing sales that have recently been held throughout the city. "We have received complaints about individuals who essentially have garage sales/yard sales as a business and run them all the time," he said, adding the city hasn't received any feedback from the public. The city council will discuss a proposed change to Chapter 22 of its code to regulate garage sales.
The Holly Springs City Council will discuss possible changes to an ordinance that would regulate garage sales during its work session on Monday. The work session begins at 7 p.m. at the Holly Springs Municipal Court chambers. Council members will also discuss amending Chapter 46 of its code, which would add regulations on false alarms throughout the city. The council will also discuss proposed amendments to its charter, repealing a section in its ordinance regarding charitable solicitations, amending a section of its peddlers and solicitor's ordinance, amendments to the city's master fee schedule and discuss changes to its financial management policy. I like that a permit wouldn't cost the homeowner anything, but is it fair to limit homeowners to only 4-times per year? I would think 6-times per year to be more fair... afterall - what's the purpose of OWNING property if you are constantly told how to operate it?
