Tell us what you think! The Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday approved over-the-counter sales for Plan B One-Step emergency contraceptive for women ages 15 and up. The contraceptive was previously available over the counter for women ages 17 and up. According to the FDA, the Plan B pill will be labeled “not for sale to those under 15 years of age *proof of age required* not for sale where age cannot be verified.” The item will contain a product code prompting the cashier to ask for the consumer's age.

ConAgra foods today is voluntarily recalling Orville Redenbacher’s Classic Kettle Korn flavor ready-to-eat popcorn packages because they may contain an undeclared milk allergen. In Holly Springs, Orville Redenbacher products can be found at places like Kroger, Publix and Target. According to an alert issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), some bags may accidentally contain white cheddar flavored popcorn, which contains milk, an allergen, which is not declared on the product label. This recall is only a concern to those who have an allergy or sensitivity to milk. No illnesses have been reported to date, and this is the only Orville Redenbacher product affected. Not only can your pets be affected by Salmonella from dry pet food being recalled by Natara Pet Products. Humans also are at risk from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products. Nestlé USA announced the voluntary recall of limited quantities of Nestlé NESQUIK® Chocolate Powder in the 10.9, 21.8 and 40.7 ounce canisters. According to the FDA's website, the voluntary recall is limited to only NESQUIK Chocolate Powder, which was distributed nationally. No other varieties of NESQUIK powder or any sizes or flavors of NESQUIK ready-to-drink are affected by this recall. Nestlé said it is removing the canisters from distribution because the company was notified by an ingredient supplier, Omya Inc. that it has issued a recall of certain lots of its ingredient, calcium carbonate due to possible presence of Salmonella. Do you throw out food when its use-by date is past? If so, you have nothing to worry about with the voluntary recall of Hearts of Romaine salad distributed by Fresh Express Inc. The limited quantity of 10-ounce bags of salad have an expired use-by date of Aug. 23 and a product code beginning with "G222," according to a release by the FDA. A single lot of romaine lettuce is being recalled because it may be contaminated with Escherichia coli O157:H7 bacteria (E. Coli O157:H7). This product is packed in a plastic bag with the UPC number 0-27918-20314-9 and may have a Best Buy date of “08 19 12”. The product was available at retail locations Aug. 2–Aug. 19.
