More CCSD Students Pass State Writing Test
The Georgia High School Writing Test is administered to 11th grade students in the Cherokee County School District and students must pass the exam before graduating.
The Cherokee County School District saw improvements in how its 11th grade students performed on the Georgia High School Writing Test. Ninety-nine percent of 11th grade students who took the exam for the first time in the fall passed the exam, a slight increase from 98 percent of students who were tested in fall 2011. The district had 2,145 students who took the two-hour exam for the first time last school year. The district's average surpasses the state's average of 97 percent. Students are required to pass the exam in order to earn a regular high school diploma. It's given three times a year so students have several opportunities to pass the exam before graduation. The only certain things in the life of an American are death, taxes, and finals. Want to get out of your finals? Want to make them magically disappear? Lean closer; I know a secret and can tell you how it's done… Oh, wait, actually, I forget. That information must have been replaced with the difference between covalent and ionic bonds. Too bad. On the bright side, if you are paying taxes or taking finals, you probably aren't dead. But that's just a guess. Certainly, heads banging against desks and that undeniable wail emanating from your friends and family who happen to be full time students may have already sent the message: it's finals time in Cherokee County.
