The Cherokee County School District saw improvements in how its 11th grade students performed on the Georgia High School Writing Test. Ninety-nine percent of 11th grade students who took the exam for the first time in the fall passed the exam, a slight increase from 98 percent of students who were tested in fall 2011. The district had 2,145 students who took the two-hour exam for the first time last school year. The district's average surpasses the state's average of 97 percent.
