Weekend Roundup: Grizzlies End Season with Win

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Holly Springs-Hickory Flat Patch.

Creekview 43, Woodland 35 – Creekview’s season started and ended well after Friday’s win gave the Grizzlies their fourth-straight victory. Creekview lost five games in a row in between its opening-night victory and their final four wins, but Grizzlies coach Al Morrell told the Cherokee Tribune the team had some momentum heading into next season. “We went through that gauntlet in our schedule early in the year and were 1-5,” said Morrell. “We set the goal to win four straight, and the kids were able to do it. Now, the kids coming back next year. Friday Football Preview: 2 on the Road

Both Sequoyah and Creekview travel tonight for Region 7-AAAA games.

Sequoyah (2-6, 2-6) at Forsyth Central (2-6, 2-6) – Sequoyah has lost two straight, but played Region 7-AAAA-leading Lambert tough last week and could break a 3-way tie eighth place in the region with a win tonight. Creekview (4-5, 4-5) at Woodland (3-5, 3-5) – Creekview’s won three games in a row after a five-game losing streak and sits in sixth place in the Region 7-AAAA standings. Woodland is just a half game behind the Grizzlies and could jump ahead with a win tonight. The Wildcats have lost three games in a row. Weekend Roundup: Hall Heaves Grizzlies to Win

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Holly Springs-Hickory Flat Patch.

Creekview 27, Forsyth Central 17 – Creekview jumped out to an early lead Friday night, according to the Cherokee Tribune, and held off a late comeback attempt to win its third-straight game. In fact, each of the Grizzlies’ 27 points was scored in the first half as Creekview quarterback Hayden Hall frequently targeted wide receiver Riley Davis. (Photo Gallery) Lambert 24, Sequoyah 21 – Lambert coach Sid Maxwell, who spent 19 years coaching at Sequoyah, according to the Cherokee Tribune, led his team to a 3-point victory Friday night. The Chiefs found that they could run the ball effectively against Lambert, but had trouble getting anything going through the air.

Friday Football Preview: 2 Home Games Tonight

Both Creekview and Sequoyah host Region 7-AAAA opponents tonight.

Forsyth Central (2-5, 2-5) at Creekview (3-5, 3-5) – With its 41-38 win last week at Cass, Creekview put together its first winning streak of the season and also scored more points than it had all year. Forsyth Central is scoring just 15 points per game, the fewest of any team in Region 7-AAAA play. Lambert (6-1, 6-1) at Sequoyah (2-5, 2-5) – After handily beating four of its first five opponents, Lambert has struggled with a loss two weeks ago and a four-point victory last week. Sequoyah has won two of its last four games and would really like to pull off an upset tonight and disrupt the top of the Region 7-AAAA standings. Both Creekview and Sequoyah play on the road tonight in Region 7-AAAA action.

Creekview (2-5, 2-5) at Cass (0-7, 0-7) – Creekview sits in 10th place in Region 7-AAAA play, with the only team below being Cass. The Colonels are allowing more points per game than any other team in the region, which gives the Grizzlies an opportunity to win their first back-to-back games of the season. Sequoyah (2-4, 2-4) at Chattahoochee (5-1, 5-1) – Sequoyah has won two of its last three games but must travel to the defending state champions’ house tonight. Weekend Pigskin Roundup: Late Score Lifts Chiefs

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Holly Springs-Hickory Flat Patch.

Sequoyah 24, South Forsyth 17 – Sequoyah secured its second win of the season and scored 24 points off the running of junior Blake Ingleton, according to the Cherokee Tribune, who ran for 209 yards and three touchdowns. Ingleton scored the go-ahead touchdown with just over three minutes to play. The win puts the Chiefs in eighth place in Region 7-AAAA play and two games out of a possible playoff spot. Rome 21, Creekview 14 – After spotting Rome two quick rushing touchdowns Friday, Creekview calmed down and kept Rome out of the end zone until late. D’Ondrei Hubbard rushed for 51 yards and quarterback Haden Hall threw for 87 yards, according to the Cherokee Tribune, but Rome scored late to ice the Region 7-AAAA game.

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Holly Springs-Hickory Flat Patch.

Rome 20, Sequoyah 10 – Neither team scored until the game was well into the second quarter. But when the scoring started, Sequoyah was unable to keep pace with Rome, losing its fourth Region 7-AAAA game of the season. Stuart Glassic paced the Chiefs on the ground, but the team only ran for 158 yards on the night. (Photo gallery) Johns Creek 41, Creekview 14 – Mistakes and penalties plagued Creekview on Friday in the Grizzlies second-straight loss by 20 points or more, and fourth-straight overall. Friday Football Preview: Sequoyah Goes for Win No. 2

Creekview and Sequoyah play at home tonight.

Johns Creek (4-0, 4-0) at Creekview (1-3, 1-3) – Creekview welcomes Johns Creek tonight for homecoming after losing three-straight games in Region 7-AAAA play. Last week the Grizzlies had to face the reigning state champions. Friday’s game is against an unbeated Johns Creek team that’s hasn’t allowed more than 14 points in a game all year. Rome (2-2) at Sequoyah (1-3) – Sequoyah picked up its first win last week in a big way, pounding the ball on the ground for 263 yards while holding the ball for 75 percent of the game and scoring 44 points. Tonight the Chiefs can make huge strides in Region 7-AAAA play by beating Rome at home. Weekend Pigskin Roundup: Sequoyah Gets 1st Win

Each week we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Holly Springs-Hickory Flat Patch.

Sequoyah 44, Cass 10 – Sequoyah is winless no more as they traveled to Cass High School and ran for 263 yards while keeping the Colonels to only 77 yards on the ground. The Chiefs won the Time of Possession battle too, holding the ball for 36 of the game’s 48 minutes. Chattahoochee 45, Creekview 21 – Explosive plays and a huge offensive line were responsible for Chattahoochee running for 333 yards on the ground Friday and easily defeating the Grizzlies, according to the Cherokee Tribune. Creekview has now lost three straight after winning its home opener over Sequoyah and sits tied for ninth place in Region 7-AAAA play.
