Dean Rusk Student Finishes Second in Cherokee Spelling Bee

Ceci Webb, an eighth grade student at Dean Rusk Middle School, finished second in the Cherokee County School District spelling bee, which was held last week.

Thirty-two Cherokee County School District students put their spelling skills to the test on Thursday, Jan. 24 during the Cherokee Education Association’s Annual Spelling Bee.   While Dean Rusk Middle School eighth-grader Ceci Webb won second place, it was Little River Elementary School fifth-grader Sathvika Narasimhan who correctly spelled “aria” and then “sputnik” to claim first place in the county bee.  Arnold Mill Elementary School fifth-grader Callie Goins came in third and Oak Grove Elementary School fourth-grader Connor Fisher is the fourth-place alternate.  Each school district elementary, intermediate and middle school sent its school-level winner to the county spelling bee in hopes of taking home the title and a chance to advance…
