Bobby Cox Hosts Benefit Golf Match for East Cherokee, Other Students
Sports greats turn out for Daniel Hager Memorial Tournament, which funds a scholarship for students planning to attend Georgia Tech.
Sunny skies provided an ideal backdrop for today's 5th annual Daniel Hager Memorial Celebrity Golf Tournament at St. Ives Country Club, hosted by former Atlanta Braves Manager Bobby Cox. Taking place in Johns Creek for the first time, the tournament is a tribute to Daniel Hager, a Georgia Tech grad who died in a car accident in 2005. "It all started on a trip to Mexico with Gerry and Kaye Litzinger (Hager's stepfather and mother)," Cox said to Patch regarding his participation as chair of the tournament. "When he was killed in the accident we were in a cab together in Mexico. Kaye told me that she would like to do something in memory of her son.
