Cherokee Judge McElyea To Hear Georgia Supreme Court Case
Ellen McElyea will serve in place of Justice David Nahmias in a case before the Georgia Supreme Court on Monday.
Cherokee County Superior Court Judge Ellen McElyea on Monday will hear a case at the Georgia Supreme Court. McElyea will serve in place of Justice David Nahmias in the appeal of Morrison Homes, Inc. v. HDI-Gerling America Insurance Co. (S13Q0462). Arguments in the case will start at 10 a.m. Monday. The case involves a home builder who is appealing a federal district court ruling that came out in favor of an insurance company that denied coverage to the builder. The federal appeals court asked the Georgia Supreme Court to answer two questions surrounding Georgia law before rendering its final decision.
