Hickory Flat Welcomes One Happy Home

As part of their dedication to making repairs on the homes of the older residents of Cherokee County, the Volunteer Aging Council is helping one woman get an upgraded version of her home.

The Volunteer Aging Council  is teaming up with the to help one Hickory Flat resident have a healthier, happier home.

After falling on bad luck and unfortunate health issues, a woman in the Hickory Flat Highway area of Hickory Flat was left with a home that is falling apart.

The woman, who must remain unnamed because of HIPPA laws, will receive a new master bathroom complete with grab bars and general repairs, hot water heater, washer and dryer hookups, roofing repairs, drywall, refurbished living room, front porch, ramp, and paint, said Eric Schrader with the Volunteer Aging Council.

She is in her late 70s and has previously been without hot water and unable to get to and from her car to her front door easily, Schrader said. Renovations should take about a month.
