Significant Weather Advisory in Effect for Cherokee County

The storm could bring pea-sized hail and ponding to roadways.

The National Weather Service has issued a significant weather advisory for Cherokee County for excessive lightning.

According to the National Weather Service, Doppler radar picked up a strong thunderstorm over the Ball Ground area at 3:22 p.m. Monday. The storm is moving east at 15 miles an hour.

The storm could generate pea-sized hail, "excessive" cloud-to-ground lightning, and wind gusts of up to 40 miles an hour. Expect ponding of water on roadways due to the rain.

The storm will affect Waleska, Ball Ground and Reavis Mountain before moving out of the area at 4 p.m.
