Weekend Pigskin Roundup: Chiefs Close Season

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Holly Springs-Hickory Flat Patch.

Woodland 39, Sequoyah 27 – The leading rusher for Woodland Friday was its quarterback, R.J. Williams, according to the Cherokee Tribune. Williams threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 135 yards and another score.

can take away some positives from its 3-7 season that ended on a down note. Behind a mostly-underclassmen offensive line the running game improved as the year progressed. Junior Blake Ingleton scored twice Friday and ran for 147 yards, giving Chiefs’ fans a taste of what’s to come next year.

Neither the Chiefs nor the Wildcats, at 4-6, qualified for the playoffs.
