Atlanta is the only team to lose a sports franchise to Canada twice. Here's how some people are fighting back.

The Thrashers are headed north. 

The AJC reports that the Atlanta pro-hockey team has been sold to a company in Winnepeg, pending ratification by the NHL Board of Governors

Atlanta Spirit will sell the Thrashers to True North Sports and Entertainment after a June 21 meeting by the Board, the AJC reports.

However, some are taking a stand. You can sign the petition to the NHL Board of Governors to keep the Thrashers in Atlanta here.

The vote will require a 75 percent approval from the Board of Governors, the AJC reported.

This sale comes 31 years after Atlanta lost the Flames to Calgary.
