Chiefs Struggle for Points at Roswell Relays
Nkenna Njoku stands out as Sequoyah's top performer Saturday.
Nkenna Njoku was top performer Saturday at the Roswell Relays, finishing third in the high jump with a 5-foot leap that accounted for six of the girls’ 7.25 points at .
It was a tough day overall for the Chiefs as the boys finished 14th out of 19 teams and the girls placed 18th out of 21.

The girls got the rest of their points from Jessica Casey, who tied for eighth in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches, and the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay team of Njoku, Danielle Chimenti, Maddie Smith and Katie Loud, who finished eighth in 4:53.30.
Scoring for the Sequoyah boys were Jacob Whitfield, fifth in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.54 seconds; the 4x800-meter relay team of Alex Woodard, Patrick James, Ryan McNeal and Patrick Dipasquale, fifth with a time of 8:53.14; and the distance medley relay team of Troy Makela, Cody Mallchok, Woodard and James, seventh in 11:46.11.

The relays, co-sponsored by the Roswell Rotary Club and Roswell High School, date back to the 1950s. Host Roswell won the girls’ and boys’ titles.
