Sign the School Choice Petition
After Sen. Chip Rogers spoke to charter supports on the State Capitol earlier this week, a petition appeared to support the bill.
A Georgia House of Representatives resolution, HR 1162, proposes an amendment to the state constitution to "establish state-widepolicy; to restate the authority of the General Assembly to create special schools; to delineate types of schools that the General Assembly may authorize and clarify funding authority; to provide for the submission of this amendment for ratification or rejection; and for other purposes," according to the Cherokee Parents for Choice website.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the amendment would allow the state to approve charter schools over local school boards and redirect spending to charter schools.
