Meet Katie Bates
This week's whiz kid is involved in lots of extra curricular activities in the area.
Name: Katie Bates, sixth grade at Johnston Elementary.
Katie's mother, Lisa-Marie Haygood, has what makes her so awesome:
"Katie is a member of the Academic Bowl Team for Johnston this year, and has been a member of the Science Olympiad Team for the last two years. She has always been a straight A student, and has not missed any days of school-never been checked out or tardy either! She is a voracious reader, and enjoys writing as well. She is an active member of the Duke Talent Identification Program, and has been studying computer animation through both Duke, and the University of Georgia.
Katie is a fourth year pianist, taking lessons at Ponier music with Miss Jessica Kitchens. She plays soccer with the Hornets of Cherokee Impact, takes painting classes, and clogging with Power Taps of Holly Springs."
