Foam Parties: Far from Good Clean Fun

Parents, beware of foam parties that are bubbling up across the area.

The is warning of these popular, if not dangerous, parties that are luring teens in.

A party full of soap must be good clean fun, right? Not exactly.

Foam parties are held in business establishments, usually nightclubs, and include massive amounts of bubbles and foam for teens to splash in. These parties can lead to violence, underage drinking and lewd sexual acts, according to a press release.

"Advertisements for teen parties will encourage all girls to wear bathing suits or minimal clothing regardless of their age," the release stated. "Lewd and vulgar sexual acts involving teens and sometimes adults occur overtly and publicly within teen parties. In addition, there are incidents of intoxicated minors as well as gang involvement. Members of local and rival gangs will attend teen parties and interact with party goers. Because of the mixture of gangs and alcohol at teen parties violence is very common, especially after the party lets out. Types of violence include large numbers of fights, which often times weapons are displayed or used."

Social media such as Facebook and Twitter are commonly used to spread the word about these parties.
