Chiefs Win Again

Will the Sequoyah boys go all the way to the top? Their 10-0 winning streak sure makes it look that way.

ο»ΏEven with former Etowah standout, Derrico Pect joining the Northview team, the much bigger 5A opponents could not find a way to defeat the much more athletic, Chiefs Saturday at the War Lodge.

The Northview Titans boasted a line up that featured a 6-foot-11 center, a 6-foot-8 forward and a 6-foot-6 shooting guard, but it was the smallest man on the floor that led all scorers in the game.

Sequoyah's senior point guard, Sean Tate scored early and often putting 32 points on the Titans, while going 12 out of 13 from the free throw line. Sophomore Solomon Ajose added 20 points for chiefs.

This win was a hard fought victory for the chiefs who came off a late game against county rival, Cherokee High School on Friday night. With the win, Sequoyah continues to re-write the school record books with 10 straight wins, a perfect 10-0 record to start the season and the No. 4 ranking in AAAA.

Up next for Sequoyah is a make up game against another county rival, Etowah Eagles tonight in Town Lake with tip off scheduled for 6 p.m. Sequoyah won the previous meeting back on Nov. 22 in the Cherokee County Showcase, 77-62.
