Unemployment Rates Remain Steady

Both Metro Atlanta and Cherokee County rates remain constant.

For the third consecutive month, theunemployment rate remains at 8.7 percent with 9,478 people unemployed, according to the Department of Labor.

Also, for the third consecutive month, Metro Atlanta unemployment rates have stayed at 10.3 percent, still above the national average by 1.2 percent.

The current rate is just 0.1 percent lower than the state’s all-time high of 10.4 percent in December 2010.

Historically, the lowest unemployment rate was in December 2000 at 3.3 and the highest was in December 2010 at 10.4 percent.
