Sunday Sales Possible on Jan. 1

Good news for those who want to drink in the new year.

At the next meeting on Dec. 19, the Holly Springs City Council is set to vote on an ordinance that allows Sunday alcohol sales in . If that is approved, the ordinance will go into effect Jan. 1.

If the ordinance were to go into effect immediately, the first Sunday after the next meeting would be Christmas. Financial Director Rob Logan said that wasn’t allowed.

Woodstock has already voted on the issue while Canton and Cherokee County will discuss it at their next meeting.

Those wishing to get a Sunday permit will have to sign two permitsβ€”one for alcohol sales and the other requesting alcohol sales on Sundays.

Logan said that most other jurisdictions charge for the permit. Holly Springs does not.
