Highway 140 stretches northwest of Waleska and runs southeast through Canton, Hickory Flat and areas just east of Woodstock before crossing into Milton. Highway 20 stretches from western Cherokee County and cuts across Canton, Macedonia and Free Home before entering Forsyth County.

The components of this project were based on a safety study that examined both corridors in Cherokee, GDOT said in a release on Monday.
