'Sleeping Giant' Democrats Threatened by Tea Party

The Cherokee Democrats are gearing up for the 2012 elections and they mean business.

The Cherokee Democrats know what they want.

And, much like Uncle Sam, they want you.

Lisa Murad, one of the coordinators for the Cherokee Democrats small groups, just has a few qualifications to look for in potential party members.

“I am looking to target former members of the Cherokee Dems, young democrats that are age 30 to 45, seniors, small businesses, and anyone that actually feels like there is something seriously wrong with what’s going on in Washington right now-- and a little bit fearful of the Tea Party’s purpose,” Murad said.

Also, the Cherokee Democrats are looking to make significant marketing enhancements such as new features on their website, scheduling big name speakers, and other ways to expand their party.

To organize, the Cherokee Democrats are breaking into "call groups," Murad said.

The reason for these groups is simple--to build the Cherokee Democrat brand and put the Republicans on notice that the Cherokee Democrats are the sleeping giants here in Cherokee County.

The call groups will launch at the end of April. If you are interested in joining the call groups, contact Murad at lisadmurad@gmail.com.
