Holly Springs To Consider Changing How Voters Elect Council members

The council will discuss the proposal during its work session and consider approving the resolution during its called meeting.

The Holly Springs City Council tonight will consider approving a resolution to ask the Cherokee County legislative delegation to change how voters elect city council members during its work session and called meeting.Β 

The work session will start at 7 p.m. and the called meeting will start immediately after the work session. Both meetings will take place at the Holly Springs Municipal Complex.Β 

The resolution, which will be discussed during the work session and considered during the called meeting, would support requesting the delegation to amend its city charter to allow council members to represent wards.

City Manager Rob Logan said each council member would be required to live in the specific ward they represent, but the elections would still remain at-large.

The council during the work session will also discuss the Hickory Road Park and the Downtown Redevelopment conceptual plans.Β
