Holly Springs Leaders Eye Downtown Revitalization

Holly Springs leaders will get a first hand glimpse of what other cities have done to redevelop their downtown areas.

City leaders will embark on a multi-city tour across north metro Atlanta on Friday, visiting the central business districts of Woodstock, Smyrna, Vinings, Suwanee and Duluth. City leaders will meet at Holly Springs City Hall at 8 a.m. Friday and soon leave for their tour with their first stop in Woodstock. 

After its visit to Duluth, the city will then head to the Vickery Village, a mixed-used development in southern Forsyth County. The tour will then head back to Holly Springs and wrap up the day with a discussion on what leaders gleamed during the trip. 

The city is in the early stages of developing its Town Center Master Plan, said City Manager Rob Logan. 

"These cities and communities have all redeveloped (or) developed their downtown core areas in a manner consistent with what Holly Springs has envisioned for its downtown," he said.

The geographic boundaries for the Town Center Master Plan include Hickory Road to the South, the Georgia Northeastern Railroad to the west and the Goldberg’s property to the north and east.

That property is near the entrance to the Hickory Springs Industrial Park and borders the railroad on the northwest, Logan added.

Along with Holly Springs' elected officials, members of the city's Downtown Development Authority also have been invited.
