Hickory Flat Roads Make TSPLOST List

Four road segments in Cherokee County made the TSPLOST roundtable first list of approval on Monday, according to a list released by the Atlanta Region Transportation and Investment Act.

These are just part of the $6.14 billion in projects that the roundtable approved. 

Three of those improvements fall in  Hickory Flat and unincorporated parts of Cherokee County along Hickory Flat Highway. 

• Hickory Flat Highway from East Cherokee Drive to Mountain Road will be widened for a cost of $73 million. 
• Hickory Flat Highway from 575 to East Cherokee Drive will be widened for a cost of $75 million.
• Hickory Flat Highway from Arnold Mill Road to the Fulton County line will be widened for a cost of $52 million. 

The fourth project in Cherokee County is a bridge replacement at Bells Ferry Road and Little River. That project only costs $9.2 million to complete.

Five mayors and commissioners agreed unanimously on the list of projects, according to the AJC. However, changes to this list are allowed over the next few months. 

All of these projects are contingent upon voters approving the one-cent sales tax in November 2012. 

In early June, , knowing that not every project would be approved. 

Only two of theUpgrades to GA 20 and Bells Ferry Road were turned down by the roundtable.
