Wes Cantrell Projected To Win State House Seat

Election 2012: Beach vs. Rogers for Senate District 21 Seat

The challenger is the North Fulton Chamber of Commerce president and member of the GDOT board, while the incumbent has held the seat for 10 years.

One of the most hotly contested elections is the Republican Primary for Georgia Senate District 21, which pits a long-time incumbent from Woodstock against a chamber of commerce executive from Alpharetta.

Chip Rogers, holds the seat now, but faces the challenge from Brandon Beach.

From the start, Rogers had more money in the bank and raised more money for his campaign. The incumbent had hundreds of thousands of dollars even before it was time to qualify for this election. Beach, on the other hand, has a fraction of that amount in campaign funds. And it shows. Campaign mailers have become a constant from Rogers, while Beach has had a much less expensive campaign.

Senate District 21 has an entirely different georaphic boundary starting with this election. Rogers has had to campaign in North Fulton, as Milton is now within the district, as is a small portion of Alpharetta that includes Beach's home.

The campaign has gotten a bit nasty, with supporters making so far unsubstantiated claims and having filed complaints with the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission (what used to be known as the State Ethics Commission).

Sorry that has been your experience. It is not the same that I have experienced. Brandon has given out his phone number to many people and called them back to answer questions or concerns. However, the letters and calls I made to Rogers were not answered or returned. The only call myself or other concerned friends received from Rogers was when a friend left him a message that she had contact the media about the amount of donations he has received from Lobbyists. That call was returned, and an article in the AJC was printed. I guess we just have had different experiences.

If the Sen Majority leader (who was on the committee) didn't want T-Splost, it would have never made it on the ballot. Just like with the local board of education redistricting - remember they got Mark Hamilton who barely covered Cherokee and now won't be. Slimy is as slimy does. You can't trust Byrd, Jurgeson or Rogers. - Not to mention they redrew Caldwell out of Byrd's area, so he moved. That says commitment! Time for a new cast! Welcome Beach, Caldwell and Scot Turner.

Here's to it, 'Aww Now" I couldn't agree more! The whole lot of them you mention above speak to term limits!! Beach ran a totally above board campaing; it's just unfortunate that that the Senator has so much dirty laundry in his closet. I think District 21 (and the neighboring house districts) finally have a real choice this election season. I expect that the citizens of Cherokee and surrounding areas will exercise their choice in this election and clean house. Perhaps the Chipster (aka "Mr. $10,000 Club Member) should walk all of his ethical talk, "....just saying

Here, Here, Aww Now!!!! Beach and Caldwell have demonstrated that they are much more ethical than the two incumbents. It's time for Rogers and Byrd to go! We need legislators who actually care about the issues and their constituents and not advancing their own personal agendas and wallets.

I sincerely hope that the voters are paying attention. Chip Rogers has lost touch with his constituents and caters to special interests. It is time for a change! We need honest, ethical leaders in our legislature, and Mr. Rogers does not meet these qualifications. I just voted for Brandon Beach!!
