Eggs Abound in Holly Springs

Hundreds gathered for the city's annual event.

Before most Holly Springs residents were even awake, more than 50 volunteers were setting up their annual Easter egg. In about three hours they were able to set up over 3,500 eggs filled with candy, disposable tattoos, and other goodies.

When asked of the motivation for this event, Holly Springs Mayor, Tim Downing said, “In my opinion it’s the definition of community.”

It indeed seemed so as the final product represented over sixty days of preparation by determined volunteers of Holly Springs.

Around 11 a.m., children organized by age group ran and searched in an attempt to collect the most eggs. Afterwards, the Easter Bunny himself came; posing for pictures patiently as a large line developed across the park.

A small makeshift petting zoo at the front of the park commanded much attention from participants throughout the day.  Children took turns holding and petting the two roosters, three bunnies, and six chicks as parents looked on and assisted them.

Booths held exciting games for the children, with several opportunities for them to win prizes. Volunteers worked consistently at these booths throughout the day from beginning to finish.

Members of the came with a fire truck and allowed children to explore inside and offered guidance and explained what everything did. They also gave out t-shirts to capitalize on the experience for the children.
