City Council to Discuss Bridge Lighting, Zoning Amendment

The Holly Springs City Council hopes to shed some light on the Sixes Road Bridge during their meeting Monday night.

The Holly Springs City Council will examine lighting issues on Sixes Road Bridge and discuss a proposed amendment to the city's zoning ordinance during their regular meeting Monday evening.

City Manager Rob Logan, who will lead the discussion on the Sixes Road Bridge lighting issue, will also discuss asbestos abatement services for 93 Palm St.

Asbestos is a fireproofing material that has been deemed a carcinogen. Asbestos is found in many old buildings, and was commonly used as fireproofing before its health risks became apparent.

Community Development Director Nancy Moon will lead the discussion on the amendment to the zoning ordinance. The relevant section deals with application procedures and regulations.

Moon will also discuss a right-of-way acquisition contract with BM&K Construction and Engineering of Braselton.

Resident Dave Konwick will be given time to speak publicly, sharing his thoughts on the family protection ordinance.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m., following the council's 6:30 p.m. work session at the Holly Springs Municipal Court chambers.
