The Cherokee County Commission is slated to set a public hearing date for its proposed fiscal year 2014 budget.
The commission will vote to set the date for 6 p.m. Sept. 17. Residents will be allowed to provide feedback during the county commission's meeting during that time.
Commissioners will also consider naming the new baseball fields and complex at the Killian site and approving a sale agreement with Westbridge Partners of the former Jones Mercantile Building in downtown Canton.
The sale is slated to go for $1.8 million, and will also include a reimbursement in the amount of $200,000 to remove the facade from the building. Commissioners will also approve a contract with Headley Construction for $225,000 to remove metal and stucco veneer from the building.
The building was occupied by the county government until 2008 it moved to its new facility in The Bluffs development in northern Canton.
