Cherokee Businessman Launches State Senate Bid

A Cherokee County businessman has decided to jump into the race to replace Barry Loudermilk.

Dean Sheridan has announced his bid for the Georgia Senate District 14 seat in the Nov. 5 special election. 

Sheridan is seeking to replace Loudermilk, who resigned the seat to focus on his bid to represent Georgia's District 11 in the U.S. House of Representatives. 

"I pledge to the citizens of the 14th District that I will not be a business as usual politician (that is) more concerned about re-election or pleasing special interests," he said in a news releases. "I will be the conservative voice to represent the values of the hard-working people of the 14th (district)."

Sheridan is a member of the Cherokee County Republican Party, Grassroots Conservatives of Cherokee and the local Tea Party Patriots organization. 

Most recently, Sheridan in 2012 was tapped to serve as the Cherokee County co-chair for Newt Gingrich's presidential bid. Earlier this year, he was chosen as the state delegate to the Georgia Republican Party Convention and as secretary for the Cherokee County Republican Convention. 

Active in physical fitness, Dean spends his spare time training for local charity races. 

Sheridan, a managing partner in the power and energy management field, is married to wife Guianina and they have four children. The family resides in southwest Cherokee County for the last 14 years and attends Peachtree Christian Church.
