All About Earnhardt

The Cherokee Democrats welcome a new member to bring political experience to the party.

Due to the increasing population in Cherokee County, the Cherokee Democrats held another election to fill the position among the other dedicated committee members.

Jana Earnhardt accepted the position as State Committee Member at their last meeting.

Earnhardt may be a new addition to the Cherokee Dems, but she is no stranger to politics.

She has assisted with several political campaigns in the past.

Earnhardt canvassed local areas and worked for the phone bank for other democratic candidates.  She also volunteered with statewide elections for 2010 such as the Governor’s election for candidate, David Poythress, and the 2010 Labor Commissioner candidate, Darryl Hicks.

Earnhardt also completed some non-partisan work for a member of the Georgia Redistricting Alliance.

Earnhardt Fact: She majored in Classical Languages and Literatures at Agnes Scott, a private liberal arts Women’s College located in Decatur, Georgia.  Earnhardt also studied Ancient Greek and Latin.

Although she has an extensive political resume her reasons for joining the Cherokee Democrats was more personal than professional. She said she genuinely wants to make a difference.

One of the main reasons Earnhardt wanted to serve the political party is because she was born and raised in Cherokee County.

“I am from here and I really care about what goes on here,” Earnhardt said.

She explained that when she grew up in Cherokee County, things were pretty good and now things have changed progressively in the other direction.

“I have cousins, I have family still in school here, and I’m seeing problems with their education being put at risk just because of politics,” she said. “That is really something I care about because I think education is important.”

She said wants to start her new position in service by listening.

“I plan on seeing how things go and as I learn the ropes a little bit more, I will start more actively making decisions,” Earnhardt said.
