Scam Alert in Georgia
A scam that targets families of inmates has been identified in Georgia.
Cherokee officials warn families of inmates that a telephone scam is ongoing in Georgia, and they should not give out funds or information to anyone over the phone.
According to a press release, a caller identifies himself as a jail official and asks family members to put funds into the inmates Paypal account so that he or she may bail themselves out of jail.
Most recently, the scam has been reported in Chatham County.

The sheriff's office warns that nobody with family in the will be asked to put money in a Paypal account. If you receive a phone call similar to this, call 911.
