Police Blotter: Fraud and DUI

Few arrests and DUI's were reported in the area during the first week of January.

On Jan. 1, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to 664 East Rope Mill Lane to investigate a burglary in an abandoned home. Harold Bishop said the house belonged to his late brother-in-law who recently died.

 On Jan. 1, sheriff’s deputies arrested Jeffery Robert Wellman for driving under the influence on Arnold Mill Road.

 On Jan. 3, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to investigate account fraud at Lee’s Automotive Repair Shop. A man wrote a check from a Wachovia account that had been closed. It was later discovered that the man was wanted for warrants in Newnan County and Lumpkin County

 On Jan 3. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about trespassing at East Cherokee Storage. According to the police report, witnesses saw a man trying to siphon off fuel from a U-Haul truck parked on the property. Surveillance video did not show anything.
