Waleska Man Dies in Crash
The crash that took the life of Hector Diaz also injured his daughter and grandson Sunday around noon in northwest Cherokee County.
A Waleska man died in a single-vehicle crash that also injured his daughter and grandson in northwest Cherokee County, the Georgia State Patrol said.
Hector Diaz, 55, was driving southbound on Darby Road in a 2011 Ford DRW Super Duty truck when the vehicle left the roadway in a curve and struck a tree, said Spokesman Gordy Wright.
The vehicle rolled over and came to rest on its top after impact, Wright said, noting the accident happened around noon Sunday.
Diaz's daughter and grandson — Waleska residents Ashley Nicole Deegan, 28, and Adam Campbell, 9 months, were both injured in the crash and were transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta for treatment.
Wright said Diaz was not wearing a seatbelt, while Deegan was restrained and Campbell was strapped into a child restraint system. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
