UPDATE: Kelly Marlow Will Be Arraigned in November

Marlow will be arraigned next month on charges she lied to police when she accused the superintendent of trying to run her and two others over in June.

UPDATE at 11:42 a.m. Thursday: A mistake on Cherokee County's online court file management system indicated Marlow, Trim and Knowles would plead not guilty. Patch has learned the three have not entered a plea and the online file system is being corrected.

"It has been corrected on our internal system, (but) it takes 24 hours to show up on the external search," said Clerk of Courts Patty Baker.

ORIGINAL STORY

Cherokee County School Board Member Kelly Marlow will be arraigned next month on charges she lied to police when she accused School Superintendent Dr. Frank Petruzielo of trying to run her and two others over after a contentious board meeting.

Marlow, along with co-defendants Barbara Knowles and Robert Trim, is set to appear before Cherokee County Superior Court Judge N. Jackson Harris at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 in courtroom 2C at the Cherokee County Justice Center.

The case will be tried by Assistant District Attorney Rachelle Carnesale.

Court documents show all three plan to plead not guilty when they are arraigned on the charges. Documents also show that Knowles will be represented by Woodstock attorney Anthony Morgese while Trim appears to have retained Chamblee attorney Michael R. Duponte.

Court documents do not show who Marlow will be represented by.

Marlow was indicted last week on four counts of making false statements while Trim has been hit with three counts of making false statements, which are felonies.

Barbara Knowles, secretary of the Cherokee County Republican Party, has been indicted on one count of misdemeanor filing a false report and four felony counts of making false statements.

The indictments stem from allegations originally made by Knowles that Petruzielo tried to run them over as they crossed East Main Street in front of The Painted Pig Tavern after the June 13 school board meeting.

Knowles made the original call to Cherokee County E-911 dispatchers, alleging Petruzielo tried to run them over in his vehicle.

Arrest warrants were issued for the trio on July 5 by the Canton Police Department, and all three were booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
