Masked Gunman Poses as U.S. Marshal, Robs Couple

The man wearing a badge around his neck searched the Saddle Club Drive home and took the victims' medication and cash.

A man with two guns apparently impersonated the U.S. Marshals when he walked into a Cartersville woman's home and demanded her and another man's belongings.

The female victim, 58, told Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputies she was sitting on her couch Monday about 7 p.m. when the man holding a gun in his hand and wearing another on his side came into her Saddle Club Drive house, according to the incident report.

The masked man said he was with the U.S. Marshals, searched the home and asked the victim if she had her ID and any medications. The gunman—a Caucasian man dressed in dark clothing and wearing a camouflage mask—said he had several other officers around the corner, who would "tear apart her house" if she didn't cooperate, the report says.

The woman, who is disabled, handed over the medicine, valued at $50. As the armed robber stood in the living room, the male victim returned from a trip to the store.

The robber, wearing "some type of" badge around his neck, identified himself as a member of the U.S. Marshals and performed a pat down, removing $253 from the male victim's wallet along with his ID.

Before taking the woman's keys out of the ignition in her car, the masked man told the couple they'd be shot if anyone left the house. He threw the keys in the woman's trunk and walked toward a nearby park.

A neighbor said she saw the robber running to an older model, four-door, blue Toyota car with dark windows, which sped off.
