Felony Drug Arrest in Holly Springs
Two were arrested during a traffic stop after attempting to throw a bag of marijuana from their car.
Tiffany Swaney and Brian Smith were arrested Monday for felony marijuana possession, additional drug charges and traffic charges after Holly Springs police officers stopped their Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Around 10:30 p.m. Sgt. R. Pugh stopped the Jeep and smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Pugh and another officer saw that Smith tried to throw a shopping bag out of the window, said Lt. Tanya Smith with the
The officers retrieved the bag and found two bags of marijuana inside. Another bag of marijuana was found in the passenger compartment of the Jeep. Together, officers estimated there were several ounces of marijuana, Smith said.

Swaney was charged with having no brake lights, no tag light, and possession of marijuana more than one ounce.Β
Smith, who was recently parolled on burglary charges, was charged with possession of marijuana more than one ounce, sale of marijuana, original container required, and possession/use of drug-related object.Β He was also found with an unmarked prescription bottle and unidentified pills.
