Citizens Academy Accepting Participants

Have you ever wondered what it takes to be an HSPD officer? Wonder what would make your community safer? Here's your chance to learn.

The will be hosting the first Citizen's Police Academy every Tuesday in June and July from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., said Lt. Tanya Smith.

The purpose of the academy is to give residents a firsthand look at the responsibilities of the police department.

Applications are due back to Officer Greg Bettis at the Holly Springs Police Department no later than May 27. Only 12 applicants will be accepted, and those will go on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The reqirements for application include:

  • Applicants must be 19 years old or older.
  • Applicants will complete a background check
  • Academy class size is limited to 12 persons.
  • Application must be filled out in its entirety.Β 
  • Though all applicants will be considered, residents of the City of Holly Springs will receive priority of admission.
