Cherokee Sheriff's Office Nabs Armed Robbery Suspects

An employee of the store the duo allegedly robbed was able to describe the suspects and their vehicle.

Two people are behind bars today after being arrested and charged with the armed robbery of a Cherokee County business, authorities say.

According to the Cherokee Sheriff's Office, Brandon Weaver, 26, of Nelson and Leagh Wright, 27, of Jasper, allegedly robbed The Classic Smoke Shop on Big Oak Drive just outside Canton around 8 p.m. Tuesday. 

When sheriff's deputies arrived at the store, an employee was able to describe to deputies the suspect and the suspect's vehicle, including its license plate number.

The suspect's vehicle was seen fleeing the scene, but law enforcmenet officials conducted a traffic stop along Cumming Highway/Highway 20 at Interstate 575. 

Both Weaver and Wright was taken into custody without incident and deputies discovered a .45 caliber handgun and cash inside the vehicle.

Both suspects are being held without bond at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
