A longtime deputy with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office has joined the Roswell Police Department.
Craig Easterwood on Monday started duties as deputy police chief with the force. He serves as second-in-command of the 200-member force, reporting to Chief Rusty Grant.
"I look forward to working with someone who comes from a highly professional and respected agency," Grant said in a statement. "I am truly excited to have Chief Easterwood join our family and command staff team."
Easterwood's experience in Cherokee included stints with uniform patrol, K-9 and internal affairs. He was a commander of the sheriff's office's Traffic Enforcement Unit and Hostage Negotiation Team.
Most recently, he had been the director of the department's new training unit. Before his time in Cherokee, Easterwood worked for the Cobb County Sheriff's Office.
