American Legion Post Honors Cherokee Public Safety Employees

American Legion Post 45 in Canton recognized those who put their lives on the line for Cherokee County residents.

Several Cherokee County public safety employees were recognized for their dedication by Canton-based American Legion Post 45.

The organization honored officials with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office and the Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services during its annual Community Service Awards banquet earlier this week.

  • Corporal Laura Antonelli – Waleska Precinct
  • Deputy Sean O’Brien – Oak Grove Precinct
  • Deputy Adam Mayfield – Bridgemill Precinct
  • Deputy Thomas Hudgins –Hickory Flat Precinct
  • Deputy Jason Johns – Freehome Precinct
  • Deputy Noah Rich – Traffic Enforcement Unit
  • Deputy Chris Bryant – K-9 Unit
  • Deputy Anthony Lemos – Court Services Division
  • Detective Thomas Wisnewski – Criminal Investigations
  • Lt. Kevin Glisson – Adult Detention Center
  • Ms. Kristina Webber – Headquarters Operations

Cherokee County Fire employees recognized were:

  • Battalion 1 Firefighter Award – Michael Sims
  • Battalion 2 Firefighter Award – Sgt. Nathan Roper
  • Volunteer Firefighter Award – Chief Robert Dobbs
  • EMS Employee Award – Sgt. Scott Townsend
  • Fire Administration Award – Sgt. Scott Deal
  • Fire Prevention Award - Capt. Barry Gibson
  • Special Operations Award Bob Pratt
