UPDATE (11:00 p.m.): The Georgia State Patrol has increased the number of people injured in Thursday evening's accident at the intersection of Old Highway 5 and East Cherokee Drive to four.

According to the state patrol, at approximately 5:50 p.m., a Mini Cooper driven by Heather E. Cocke, 30, of Canton entered the intersection as the light was changing and a pickup truck carrying a trailer was making a left turn. Cocke swerved around the trailer, crossed into the opposite lane of traffic, and struck a Ford F-150 head-on. The Ford then struck a Volvo that was behind it.

Four people have been taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta for treatment. The Georgia State Patrol says that Cocke is the most seriously injured of the four patients.
