Saturday night was a beautiful night in Alpharetta at Verizon Wireless Encore Park Amphitheatre. Who better to go spend the evening with than native Georgian Alan Jackson and his band. Kicks Country Fair was the event. Kix Brooks of Brooks & Dunn was the jovial host for the evening.
The night started with former American Idol contestant and Newnan, GA native Corbette Jackson. Next on the ticket was actress and singer Jana Kramer. Ms. Kramer is perhaps best known as Alex Dupre on the TV series One Tree Hill. Jana is not just a pretty face. She can also belt out the tunes. Third on the ticket was perennial country heartthrob, Clay Walker. Mr. Walker, a Texas native has released 11 albums with four number one hits.
Finally and with great anticipation, Alan Jackson took the stage. This is Alan Jackson's third appearance at Encore Park.
I would like to state that I am not a die-hard country music fan. I am however a big fan of great music. Alan Jackson's music is arguably some of the best country music ever written and performed. For me, Mr. Jackson's appeal is not about his charismatic smile or the fact that he has produced 35 number one hits on the country charts. It is the feeling you get when you are listening to his music. His music comes straight from the heart and gets to you on a very emotional level.
Another cool aspect to Saturday's concert was the fans. Alan Jackson's target audience is literally everyone. There were young children on the shoulders of their parents and elderly people who could barely walk. Alan Jackson's fans all have one thing in common. They know he is one of the greatest country artists of all time.
