Northside Hospital-Cherokee Awarded Re-Certification for Pneumonia Care

Once again, Northside Hospital-Cherokee has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for demonstrating health care quality and safety in pneumonia care.  The hospital previously received the certification award in 2009 and 2011.  All three Northside hospitals (Atlanta, Cherokee and Forsyth) have received certification in pneumonia care and remain the only Georgia hospitals to do so.

To receive this two-year certification, Northside Hospital-Cherokee underwent a voluntary and rigorous on-site review.  The hospital was evaluated for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of pneumonia patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.

“Northside Hospital-Cherokee is committed to providing the highest level of care for our patients,” said Jan Johnson, RN, chief nursing officer, Northside Hospital-Cherokee.  “This achievement from The Joint Commission recognizes our hard work and we are honored, once again, to receive it.”
