Here we go back in the deep freeze again!
On my Facebook page back on the 17th I said that the following two weeks would be our best chance for winter precip possibly all winter. Now the models are beginning to pick up on subtle hints that the that we may be looking at two chances for snow next week and into the first few days of February.
We're still a long way off but the trends are the important parts right now. So far this winter, the cold air has been pretty far east which has placed us in a northwest flow which is not conducive to winter precipitation. There are signs that the cold may retreat a little bit west, and that move may place us in a favorable position to take advantage of a storm track across the Gulf coast.
In the meantime, severe cold is re-entering the country this morning will make its appearance here tonight as our temperatures dive down to almost the single digit mark. We'll get a brief respite this weekend but come the first of the week... plummeting temps will take us back below freezing for several days. The latest GFS shows temps falling below freezing around 7pm on Monday and not going back above freezing until late Thursday. Snow chances next weekend and into the first week of February.

The Patch is currently having technical issues that prevent me from cross-posting to sites like I normally do, so I'm having to copy and paste this to 22 sites.
