Does it Work: Vacuuming the Dog

My new cleaning purchase is easily a stroke of genius.

I was skeptical about this purchase, but a 20-percent-off coupon from Bed, Bath and Beyond was far too tempting.  After all, I vacuum daily and I still manage to have dog hair everywhere. It’s a constant uphill battle of white fur and black pants. With winter just around the corner and my favorite wool sweaters coming out of the closet, I knew something had to give.

I bought the Shed Pal, a grooming brush and mini vacuum for Daisy, fully expecting her to be too scared of it to use.

Keep in mind: This dog gets scared of her own tail sometimes.

Basically, it’s like one of those sweater defuzzers—a brush with a small vacuum attached to the handle. The brush is a grooming tool for dogs.

The first thing they tell you is not to vacuum the hair right off the dog. Let’s just get this out of the way—you’re going to do it anyways. Go ahead, do it, it won’t hurt your dog. It did give Daisy a funny part in her fur, though.

However, it doesn’t work that way. You have to brush the excess fur down to your dog’s bottom and then suck it off.

Daisy loves this. She sits for hours and lets me brush her. The vacuum works fairly well to get the hair straight off of them. Even better, you can just turn it on the carpet for the hairs that fall.

residents are constantly getting coupons for Bed, Bath and Beyond in the mail as well as in magazines. Use those to get this for $16. It does require AA batteries.
