Carter began his studies at KSU during his senior year at Sequoyah through the dual-enrollment program. A Dean’s List/President’s List student, Carter will graduate this spring with a dual degree in mathematics and Spanish and a minor in applied mathematics in Spanish.

He works at the university as a teaching assistant and tutor in physics and was appointed last year as a senator for Kennesaw's Student Government Association. Carter also has studied abroad in Spain while a student and is active in his church, including serving on mission projects.

The son of Mike and Rhonda Carter of Woodstock, Carter has two siblings who currently attend Sequoyah: brother, Grant, a sophomore, and sister, Grace, a freshman.

“Zach is a very accomplished student who has mastered a rigorous curriculum at Kennesaw,” Mark Anderson, dean of the College of Science and Mathematics at KSU, said in the university’s article on the accomplishment. “In addition to his course studies, Zach is providing peer learning support to introductory physics students by serving as a learning assistant. The highly competitive and prestigious Fulbright award is a tremendous accomplishment for Zach.”
